RODNEY S. BAKER

Rodney Baker, 82, passed away Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Calypso Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chris Currie officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Rodney was born Feb. 5, 1928, to A.G. and Mary H. Baker of the Smith Chapel community.

Rodney was a member of the Calypso Presbyterian Church where he was former Sunday School superintendent and member of the choir. He drove a Mt. Olive Pickle truck for 39 years and two months before retiring.

Rodney is survived by his wife of 58 years, Adele Pigford Baker, and children, Sandra Holland and husband, Ricky, of Greenville, Eddie Baker and wife, Shelly, of Goldsboro, Mary Helen Cottle of Calypso and Angela Baker-James and husband, John, of Raleigh. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who loved their "Pa." He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George, Ray and Roy and his sisters, Luna Hudson, Lola Jackson and Ruby King.

Friends and family will be received at Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive today from 3 until 5 p.m., and other times at the home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Calypso Presbyterian Church Building Fund or a hospice facility of your choice.
