GARY, Ind. -- J. Paul Best passed away on Thursday.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Guy and Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave.
He was a retired employee of the U.S. Steel Corp. with 35 years of service and retired McDonald's breakfast club, 5th Ave.
He was preceded in death by wife, June Best; two brothers, Alfonzo and James Best; and two sisters, Ethel Dixon and Gladys Berrymore.
He is survived by two children, Verleaish (Otis) Jones, Cynthia Best; three brothers, Houston (Inez) Best of Jacksonville, Ralph (Lynette) Best of Mount Olive, Theodic (Tawanna) Best of Charlotte, Md.; two sisters, Ernestine Thompson of Washington, D.C., and Evelyn J. (Romearo) Parrish of Milford, Del.; companion, Geraldine Stokes; and a host of six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
