Katherine Lawrence Lucas, 82, passed away Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. Committal will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
She was the daughter of the late John and Norma T. Lawrence and the wife of the late Joe Lucas.
Kathy was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship class, M&M's, Beta Sigma Phi, Choir, General Meeting of the Church, Woodmen of the World and Golden Heirs.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by two sons, Richard Maurer and wife, Sandra, of Greer, S.C., and Steve Maurer of Goldsboro; a daughter, Kathy Slusher and husband, Howard, of Raleigh; two grandsons, Clint Kirby of Franklinton and Sgt. Joshua Kirby, currently serving in Iraq; and a brother, Johnny Lawrence.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
