PIKEVILLE -- Richard Allen Hinnant, 77, passed away Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Joey Crumpler officiating.
Richard was born in Wayne County Nov. 10, 1932, to the late Richard O. Hinnant and Ruby Wilson Hinnant.
He worked for 31 years with Scott Motor Co. and retired as the sales manager.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
Richard is survived by his wife, Frances Tyner Hinnant; his stepdaughter, Betty Waters and husband, Michael, of Grantham; his stepsons, Robert Farmer of Florida, James Farmer of Goldsboro, Billy Farmer and wife, Beulah, of Goldsboro and Timmy Farmer of Phoenix, Ariz.; his stepgrandchildren, Mitzi Farmer, Joe Farmer and wife, Karen, Billy Farmer, Heather Johnson and Shannon Waters; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Justice and Brodey Price.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Hinnant Jr., and stepgranddaughter, Nikki Waters Price.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 36, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8:30, and other times at his home.
