MOUNT OLIVE -- Thelma Eaton Evans, 92, passed away Tuesday afternoon at home.

Memorial services to celebrate her long and happy life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, after which the family will receive friends. At other times, family and friends will gather at the home of David and Nancy Underhill at 228 N.C. 403 east in Mount Olive.

Mrs. Evans, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, retired from Rochester Telephone Co.

Prior to moving to Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive some 34 years ago, she had been a resident of Avon, N.Y.

She was a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and David Underhill of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis Evans Jr. and Sandra Evans of Williamsburg, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Marjorie Eaton of Castorland, N.Y.; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Underhill and David Underhill Jr. and wife, Melanie, all of Mount Olive, Scott Evans and wife, Ellen, of Williamsburg, Va., and Lee Evans and wife, Sheila, of Cream Ridge, N.J.; an honorary grandson, Randy Joe Foy of Goldsboro; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Andrew Underhill and Curtis, Katie and Bill Evans. Also surviving are several beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Carolina East Foundation, P.O. Box 887, Kenansville, N.C., 28349.

Tyndall Funeral Home is assisting the family.
