GARNER -- Peggy Wall Young, 76, died Sunday peacefully at home. After three years of courageously battling leukemia with her faith to sustain her, Mrs. Young went home to be with her Savior.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Garner Advent Christian Church, with burial following in Montlawn Memorial Park, U.S. 70 in Raleigh.

She was the epitome of strength, patience and love -- that love she instilled in each of her family members will be passed on for generations to come.

"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." (Proverbs 31:29).

She is survived by her daughters, Shelia Y. Lowry and husband, Richard, of Garner, Vicky Y. Johnson and husband, Scott, of Goldsboro and Cathy Y. Sumner and husband, Scott, of Willow Spring; son, Owen David Young Jr. of Garner; grandchildren, Brittany and Blake Lowry, Taylor and Savannah Johnson, Ashley and Mason Young and Logan and Jordan Sumner; sister, Myrtle W. Williams and husband, Dave, of Newport News, Va., and Matrice Honeycutt of Wendell; and brother, Lewis Wall and wife, Shirley, of Knightdale.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Owen David "Puppy" Young Sr., as well as five sisters and six brothers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Alan D. Kritz, staff and volunteers at the Cancer Centers of North Carolina for their continuous care and compassion.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, N.C. 50 in Garner, and at other times at the home of Richard and Shelia Lowry, 2406 Buffaloe Road in Garner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garner Advent Christian Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Road, Garner, N.C., 27529, or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Cary, N.C., 27513.
