BOBBY L. SPEARMAN
Died Feb. 13, 2010
CLINTON -- Bobby Lee Spearman Sr. 70, 2360 Union School Road, died at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington Saturday.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, with the Rev. David McClellan and the Rev. Earnest Mason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born in 1939 in Sampson County, Mr. Spearman was the son of the late Harold Lee and Sallie Matthis Spearman.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a past master of Orient Lodge #395, a 32nd degree Mason, a lifetime member of Arab Shrine Club in Wilmington and a former member of the board of directors. He was a past patron of Cape Fear Chapter #346 order of Eastern Star.
He was a lifetime member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
He was the retired owner of Spearman's T.V. Shoppe in Wilmington.
He is survived by his wife, Linda B. Spearman; son, Rev. Bobby Lee Spearman Jr. and wife, Nikki, of Ingold; sister, Betty S. Best and husband, Horace, of Goldsboro; two sisters-in-laws, Annie Kate Spearman of Clinton and Donna Braswell Batchelor and husband, Phil, of Wilmington; four nieces; three nephews; five great nieces; and five great nephews.
He was known as Pop-E-Pop to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Howard Spearman.
The family will receive friends at Royal-Hall Funeral Home tonight from 6 to 8 and other times at his home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 3949 Taylors Bridge Hwy., Clinton, N.C., 28328; American Cancer Society, 930 B. Wellness Dive, Greenville, N.C., 27834; or one's favorite charity.
Services are entrusted with Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
