KINSTON -- Jesse Lee Artis, 79, 311 Frances Place, passed away at his home Sunday.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 311 N. East St. in Kinston. The family will assemble at 311 Frances Place in Kinston one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Hooks Grove Church Cemetery in Pikeville.
He was the son of Lloyd Jones, Magdalene Hodges Artis Jones and Alphonzo Artis.
Mr. Artis is survived by his two sons, Gerald Artis of Columbia, Md., and Anthony Artis (Vicky) of Winchester, Va.; three daughters, Deogratias Artis Banks (Wayne) of Apex, Angelia Artis Miles (Kelvin) of Thomasville and Ava Artis of Tucker, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mills Funeral Home Chapel, 1300 MLK Jr. Blvd. in Kinston.
