PEGGY HINSON KORNEGAY

Dec. 6, 1935-Jan. 21, 2010

Peggy Hinson Kornegay died peacefully on Jan. 21, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Services will be held today at Falling Creek Methodist Church in Grantham at 2:30 p.m., followed by the burial at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Harrison Kornegay and Olivia Hamilton, her much-loved brother, Donald Ray Hinson; daughter-in-law, Jen Belsan Kornegay; son-in-law, Chris Hamilton, and grandchildren, Emma Kornegay, Kyle Hamilton and Eric Hamilton.

Peggy Hinson was born on Dec. 6, 1935 in Seven Springs to Robert and Ida Hinson. She grew up in Grantham, where she graduated from Grantham School in 1954. The first in her family to attend college, she went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from Atlantic Christian College in 1958. She married Hervey Harrison Kornegay of Mount Olive in 1958. She then went on to teach elementary school in North Carolina until 1971, when she and her family moved to Fairfax, Va. She continued her career in Fairfax as an elementary school teacher.

She will be forever remembered as an incredibly devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. In memory of her, contributions may be made to Falling Creek Methodist Church, 299 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to the Salvation Army, 610 N. William St., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
