DOROTHY WORRELL GRIDER

Dorothy Worrell Grider, 78, passed away Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield officiating. Interment will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Dorothy was born in Wayne County on Sept. 27, 1931, to the late George Emmitt Worrell and Tinnie Irene Strickland Worrell. She was a long-time beautician in downtown Goldsboro at the Goldsboro Beauty Salon. Dorothy was also a long-time employee of Seymour Funeral Home, where she lived and ministered to those hurting. The staff of Seymour Funeral Home will remember Dorothy as a dedicated employee who enjoyed mothering everyone, as she was affectionately called "Mama D." Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by many.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Mark Alan Grider and wife, Joyce, of Lecanto, Fla., and Karl Edwin Grider and wife, Linda, of Goldsboro; her brother, Charles Emmitt Worrell and wife, Barbara, of Kingsport, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Shawn P. Howell and wife, Karen, Bridget G. Harmon and husband, Jason, Jason O. Grider and wife, Christy, Heather G. Sullivan and husband, Ryan, and Danielle E. Grider; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, two nephews, and a niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra E. Grider and her son, David Grider.

The family will receive friends today following the service at Seymour Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Goldsboro Worship Center, 900 West New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
