ANNIE BRUCE HALES GRANT

Annie Bruce Hales Grant, 99, passed away on Friday evening at the Brian Center.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Fulkerson officiating.

Mrs. Grant was born in Greene County on June 13, 1910, to the late Edward Troy and Mattie Elizabeth Morgan Hales. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Grant, her brothers, Floyd and wife, Margaret Hales, and Edgar Hales; and a nephew, Marion Rhodes Hales. Mrs. Grant worked as a public health nurse for Wayne County with over 23 years of service. She was the oldest charter member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Grant was in the first graduating class of Goldsboro High School in 1928. She had been a member of Lakeview Woman's Club, Goldsboro Professional Women's Club and Madison Avenue Women's Club.

Mrs. Grant is survived by her nephew's wife, Mrs. Marion "Judy" Rhodes Hales of Goldsboro and her nephew, David Dixon Hales and wife, Judie, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her great nephew, David Dixon Hales II and wife, Alison, and son, all of Iowa; and her great-niece, Anna Hales Cazel and husband, Jeremy, and two daughters of Sanford, Fla. She is also survived by a number of special friends that include Evangeline and Royce Davis of Goldsboro, Tom Daniels, I.K. and Betty Williams, David Rouse, Inez Nickens and Bessie Scott; and the staff and nurses of the Brian Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends at the home of Judy Hales, 103 Whitney Place, Goldsboro.
