DUDLEY -- Eldress Annie Ruth Harvey passed away Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., with the funeral services following at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moses Chapel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Faison, with pastor Kendall Clark and bishop Chester Aycock officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.

Eldress Harvey was born in Pender County Dec. 13, 1922, to the late Robert Williams and Annie Ruth Williams Williams.

She was one of eight children.

She received Christ at an early age and accepted a call to ministry as a young adult. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher at St. Jude Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Disciples of Christ in Warsaw and later joined Moses Chapel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Faison. She had a love of singing for the Lord.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her five daughters, Edna Vanderhorst (Johnny) and Malissia Hill (Edwin) both of Dudley, Frances Shearod (Marvin) of Goldsboro, Pearline Barksdale of Warsaw and Jeanette Walker of Ocala, Fla.; two sons, Franklin Harvey (LaVern) of Dudley and James Harvey (Sandra) of Warsaw; 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Martha Mulligan of New York, N.Y., Lottie Dyson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Louise Dixon of Baltimore, Md., and Pearl Carpenter of Rocky Point; a sister-in-law, Doris Harvey of Newport News, Va.; several nieces and nephews, including one adopted daughter, Lillie Frasier Peele (Dennis) of Goldsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her parents; her stepmother, Laura Williams; her husband, Elder Ben Frank Harvey; and three siblings, Roy Williams, Katherine Smith and Julia Corbett, preceded her in death.

The family will be present at the viewing to receive friends. At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at 333 Brentwood Drive in Dudley.
