DAKOTA C. MEDLIN

Dakota Carter Medlin, 10, of 132 Bennett Road, died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Herring and Kelvin Gurley officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.

He was born in Wayne County to Jasper "Jap" Medlin and Duronda Gail Begley. He was a fifth grade student at Grantham School and was active in football and baseball with Grantham Youth Sports.

In addition to his parents, Dakota is survived by a brother, Jeremiah Eugene Medlin; paternal grandmother, Debra Wiggins of Dudley; paternal grandfather, Jerry Medlin of Goldsboro; paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Medlin of Goldsboro; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Gwen Begley of Whitesburg, Ky., and Clark and Barbara Bennett of Grantham; uncles, Tony Medlin, Steven Wiggins, and Jonathan Begley; aunts, Stephanie Wiggins, Candace Wiggins, Miranda Sturgill and Amanda Evans.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jerry Medlin.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Vic and Pat Lozier, 125 Southern Drive, Dudley.
