Joseph Eugene Brown, 77, of N.C. Hwy. 111 N., went home to be with his Lord Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Shumate-Faulk funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
He was born in Wayne County to the late George Franklin and Emma Cannon Brown. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture.
Mr. Brown is survived by three sisters, Penelope Geist, Christine Stone, and Ann Rhodes; a brother Selby Brown; 21 nieces and nephews, one of which was his "eyeball," Donna Holcombe; and a special friend, Pat Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Geraldine Shelton; and a brother, Frank Brown.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
