RICHARD B. PATE SR.

GAINESVILLE, Va. -- Richard Braxton Pate Sr., 82, former resident of Woodbridge, Va., for 48 years, passed away Tuesday at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va.

Mr. Pate was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Goldsboro and was the son of the late Norman and Lula (Anderson) Pate.

Richard was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Woodbridge for more than 20 years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Braxton Pate Jr. of Manassas, Va., and Phillip Thomas Pate of Woodbridge, Va.; and one daughter, Susan Dunn of Gainesville, Va. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Pate, and three brothers, Leroy, Marvin and Herman Pate.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mountcastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge.
