BETTIE C. SMITH

Bettie Carroll Peacock Smith, 74, went to be with her Lord Tuesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center, with the Rev. Jerry Andrews, the Rev. Danny Johnson, the Rev. Travis Smith and the Rev. Terry Hartley officiating. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Bettie was born in Greene County Dec. 13, 1934, to the late Tryphon D. Peacock and Betty Lillian Cannon Peacock.

She retired from Sears after 25 years of service and was currently working with Raper Drugs and had done so for more than 15 years.

Bettie was an active member of Goldsboro Worship Center, where she sang in the choir.

For those who knew Bettie, she will be remembered for her concern towards others and for her baking. The loves in Bettie's life were God, family and friends. She will be missed by many.

Bettie is survived by her husband of 57 years, William G. "Billy" Smith; her sons, Mark Smith and wife, Pam, of Goldsboro and Jeff Smith and wife, Shari, of Pikeville; her foster daughter, Carolyn Wayne Wadford and husband, Emmett, of Cary; her grandchildren, Crystal Hepburn and husband, Chris, of Chester, Va., Travis Smith and wife, Jessica, of Pikeville, Stephanie Smith and Chris Smith of Pikeville; her stepgrandchildren, Cory Bolduc and wife, Krystal, of Clayton and Jason Bolduc and wife, Ashley, of Goldsboro; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jaden Hepburn, Ethan and Bryton Bolduc and Allison Bolduc. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy P. Sutton of Goldsboro; her brothers, Joe Peacock and wife, Pauline, of Goldsboro and David Peacock and wife, Emily, of Goldsboro; her sister-in-law, Sandra Peacock of Goldsboro; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, R.D. Peacock, Bobby Peacock and James Thomas Peacock.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Goldsboro Worship Center, 900 W. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC, 27530.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at the Goldsboro Worship Center and other times at her home, 105 Louvenia Drive, Goldsboro.
