CONARD MASSEY

DUDLEY -- Elijah Conard Massey, 94, passed away Thursday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at noon at Goldsboro Friends Meeting, with Frank Massey and Willie Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Hollowell-Massey Cemetery.

Conard was born in Wayne County Aug. 26, 1914, to the late Elijah Coleman Massey and Emma Gertrude Cox Massey. He was married to the late Ruby Costin Massey.

Conard was a long-time dairy farmer in the Dudley community and was a member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting.

Conard is survived by his daughters, Mary M. New and husband, Vernon, of Charlotte and Louise M. Braswell and husband, Wesley, of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Emily New and fiancée, Alan Dellinger, Jimmy New, Daniel "Chipper" New, Sandy Minchew and husband, John, and David Braswell; his brother, Lloyd Massey and wife, Elizabeth, of Dudley; and three nephews, Macon Massey of Belton, S. C., Frank Massey of Asheboro and Harry Massey of Falls Church, Va.; a special niece, Nancy W. Heath; and many other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hollowell-Massey Cemetery Trust Fund, N. C. Friends Yearly Meeting, 4811 Hilltop Rd., Greensboro, NC, 27407, Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC, 27534, or Community Home Care and Hospice, 1201 Wayne Memorial Dr., Goldsboro, NC, 27534.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church and at other times at his residence.
