Orvis Earl Swaney Jr. passed away Monday in Mobile, Ala.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Lewis Forsythe officiating.

Earl was born on June 21, 1972, and was the son of Orvis E. "Pete" Swaney Sr. and Wanda Allen Swaney of Goldsboro.

He was employed as a crane operator and welder with Steel Performance of Greensboro.

In addition to his parents, Earl is survived by his sister, Angel Swaney and fiancée, Robert Castleman; his nieces, Myka, Kristin and Casadi of Deer Park, Texas; a daughter, Blake Swaney of Pikeville; his special aunts, Treva G. Allen, Teressa Allen Hoke and husband, Leonard of Goldsboro; his grandpa, James A. Allen Jr. of Goldsboro; his cousin, Matthew Addison Hoke of Raleigh; his great-aunt, Katie Rose Mitchell, including her family of many cousins, of Goldsboro. He is also survived by Barbara Biancardi and a step-sister, Jessica Cheney of Texas; close friends, Gary Kelly and wife, Wendy, and Savanna and Stormy of Goldsboro; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his work crew with Steel Performance including the staff at the Greensboro office.

Earl was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen Rose Allen of Goldsboro, Dock Major and Lucille Swaney of Winston-Salem and Hazel and Clarence Butler of Deep Run.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his parents, 740 Charlie Braswell Road, Goldsboro.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to the Earl Swaney Memorial Fund, in care of Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC, 27534.
