Doris Bordeaux Ward, 87, passed away Sunday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Homer Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Doris was born in Robeson County Oct. 1, 1921, to the late Arthur Baker Bordeaux and Annie Laura Bullard Bordeaux. She was married to the late Elbert Adams Ward.

Doris retired as an instructor with Wayne Community College and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Meredith College.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Ann Baker Ward of Raleigh and Jane "Beau" Simcoe and husband, Ronald, of Wilmington; her son, Elbert "Bert" Ward Jr. and wife, Trisha, of Atlanta, Ga.; her grandchildren, Nicole Baller and husband, Brian, Rosalie Simcoe, Zachary Simcoe and Will Ward; her sisters, Christine B. Farrior of Williamston and Daphne B. Pope of New Bern; her sister-in-law, Edith W, Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Silas and Blythe Baller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, especially the Senior Companion Fund, or the TV Ministry, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 603 Brookwood Lane, Goldsboro.
