In profound sorrow the staff of McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries joins the McIntyre family to announce the death of Mother Essie Mae Ward McIntyre. In triumph and resolve Mother McIntyre peacefully entered the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Butler and Minnie Cherry Ward. She was the widow of the late William Russell McIntyre Sr.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by son, William Russell McIntyre Jr. and one grandson, Joseph Andre' Brewington.
The family is looking forward to a high time in the Lord as her life, legacy and memory are celebrated in a hand-clapping, toe-tapping, foot-stomping, Holy Ghost-filled home going service Tuesday at noon. The sound of Pentecost will fill the air as her family and the saints turn their mourning into dancing on the hardwood floors of the New Stoney Hill United Holy Church. Her pastor, Dr. Howard Eugene McNair will officiate.
Mother McIntyre's custommade primrose (Spanish lace interior full couch) casket will be placed in an authentic 1892 Cunningham horse-drawn hearse for her journey to the Elmwoood Cemetery.
Her devotion and love shall forever remain in the hearts of her children
Among her survivors are her loving children James Earl and Robin McIntyre of Goldsboro, Charles Anthony and Wendy McIntyre of Lebanon, Pa., Minnie Patricia Brewington of Goldsboro; Delbra Ann McIntyre, of the home, who is dutiful staff member and funeral director at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Evelyn Joyce McIntyre of Tampa, Fla., and Lesia McIntyre and David Best of Goldsboro; two sisters, Minister Mable Artis of Goldsboro and Mother Helen Boothe of Venice, Fla.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 until 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro.
Mother McIntyre's remains will lie in state at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at other times at the residence where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
