James Alfred Brock, 87, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Maj. R. Andrew Wiley officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

He was born in Sampson County to the late Joseph E. and Maggie Coats Brock. A member of the Salvation Army Church, he also served as a member of the Men's Club at the church. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a charter member of the Goldsboro Optimist Club and was a current member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was a sales manager for 36 years at Cobb Chevrolet and had previously worked at Jackie's Used Cars.

Mr. Brock is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jessie Mae Holt Brock; one son, Randy Brock of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brock is currently hospitalized due to illness and she requests that any acts of sympathy be directed through Maj. Wiley at the Salvation Army.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 264, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
