VERNON L. DAVIS

July 24, 1935-March 23, 2009

Retired U.S.A.F. Master Sgt. Vernon Lee Davis, 73, 182 Collier St., died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with full military honors.

Vernon was born in Onslow County on July 24, 1935, to the late Chester Doyle Davis and Ruby Lee Bedford Davis. He was a retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Donna Brownlee Davis; his daughter, Sherry Davis of Goldsboro; his sons, Tony Davis and wife, Maxine, of Fremont and Harold Davis of Goldsboro; his sisters, Ruby D. Tart and husband, Robert, of Benson and Brenda Beach and husband, Micky, of Maryland; his brothers, Lloyd Davis of Goldsboro, Linwood Davis and wife, Janice, of Texas, Dwayne Davis and wife, Barbara, of Virginia and Billie Davis and wife, Betty, of Texas; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R.C. Davis, Donald Davis and Chester Davis.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
