ETHEL B. LOFTON

March 7, 1929-March 20, 2009

Ethel Bowden Lofton was born March 7, 1929, in Wayne County, N.C., to the late Minnie Best Bowden and the late Richard Bowden. Her work on this earthly tabernacle was completed Friday, March 20, 2009, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Our peace only comes in knowing that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bennie Lofton; two children, Kenneth Ray Lofton and Richard Allen Lofton; one grandchild, Latisha Evette Kornegay; her parents, Richard and Minnie Best Bowden; three brothers, John Henry Bowden, Edward Bowden and Eddie Wayne Bowden; and three sisters, Josephine Bowden Hubbard, Celia Ruth Smith and Sadie Bell Bennett.

Fond memories of Ethel will linger in the hearts of her children, Robert Earl Bowden (Shirley) of Raleigh, Brenda Delores Lofton of Dudley, George Eddie Lofton of Charlotte and Joyce Lofton Kornegay of Dudley; her siblings, Freeman Bowden (Edna) of Buffalo, N.Y., Willie Bowden (Rose) of Charleston, S.C., and Dolly Ann James (David) of Seven Springs; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon at Bear Creek Association Headquarters, with Pastor Antonio Blow and Pastor E.T. Coston officiating. She will be laid to rest in Jerusalem Church Cemetery in Seven Springs.

Visitation will be Monday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the residence, 305 Brogden St., Dudley, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
