ELBERT C. ROUSE

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Elbert Cassidy Rouse, 70, of Seven Springs, died Saturday.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Interment will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Elbert was born Sept.7, 1938, in Lenoir County to the late Elbert Leslie Rouse and Gatha Lee Phillips Rouse. He was a retired Electrical Engineer with Waukesha Electrical Systems formerly known as Hevi-Duty and operated Tri-Co. Drafting Service.

Elbert touched many young lives through baseball and was instrumental in establishing Wayne County Babe Ruth Baseball. He served on the board of directors for North Carolina Babe Ruth Baseball and later Eastern North Carolina Babe Ruth Baseball. Elbert enjoyed quail hunting and field trials.

Elbert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan R. Rouse; son, Joel Elbert "Joey" Rouse and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro; daughter, Leesa Rouse of Pikeville; two grandchildren, Joely Alexandra Rouse and Jenna Elizabeth Rouse; two brothers, William Henry Rouse of Illinois and Jimmy C. Rouse of Grifton; two sisters, Clara Algar of Washington and Gloria King of Kinston; a special pet, Annie; along with numerous special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Willard "Fella" Rouse, 127 Hardy Bridge Road, Seven Springs.
