FAISON -- Homegoing celebrations for Bertha Mae Bell, 89, 1304 Junious Lucas Road, were held Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. from Poplar Grove Mission-ary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie Alford officiating. Burial followed in the Bell Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Cherished memories will linger in the hearts of her daughters, Julia Faye (Lamont) Butler of Lumberton, Lena M. Greenfield, Alease B. Davis and Edna G. (William) Herring of Dudley, Carrie J. (James) Sutton of Goldsboro, Delois (Thurman) Copeland of Faison, A. Jewel (Kenneth) Faison of Goldsboro and Ziva D. Bell of the home; five sons, Kenneth. E. (Patricia) Bell of Faison, Jerry M. (Joyce Ann) Bell of Clinton, Alfonza L. (Virginia) Bell of Dudley, Richard J. (Tonia) Bell of Columbus, Ga., and Donnell Bell of Faison; 46 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing was held Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home Chapel and the family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church.
