News-Argus restructuring

The media landscape is changing at a faster rate than ever, and The News-Argus is working to adapt to these changes in order to provide the products and services that meet the needs of its readers and advertisers.
"As the primary source of information in Wayne County, the newspaper is restructuring to keep pace with these rapid changes and continue to be the dominant source of news and advertising in this area. The restructuring will involve moving our printing operation to a new location in order to be able to take advantage of a larger press with more capabilities. Newspapers in Wilson, Kinston, Rocky Mount, New Bern and others have already made similar moves," said President and Publisher Hal Tanner III.
The restructuring also includes a staffing reduction in its news operation. Tanner continued, "We lament the loss of talented, long-serving employees. It's very difficult anytime an organization loses good employees who are professionals in their fields. We were very fortunate to have worked with these people, and we will miss them."
This change will be, in part, addressed through investments in a new newsroom computer system designed to streamline the news production process. The company is also investing in a new website to better serve the readers and advertisers that rely on digital versions of its products.
Other resources are also being directed into improving the company's strategic initiatives in print and digital publications. New publications and services are being developed, stories will be available more quickly, and the newspaper will be delivered earlier as a result of these investments, benefiting readers and advertisers.
