On Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers of the Goldsboro Police Department responded to 1900 S. Slocumb St. in reference to a call of an armed subjects.

While en route the call was updated as a shots fired call.

When officers arrived they found the victim, Ni-Quawn Kornegay, a 19-year-old black male, unresponsive between Seymour Drive and Day Circle.

EMS responded and the victim was pronounce deceased on scene.

Kornegay had left home prior to the incident and visited the store on the corner.

While inside the store there was an altercation and the victim began to leave there area.

Shots were then fired outside of the store and the victim was struck and succumbed to his injuries before law enforcement and EMS arrived.
