WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock went a man down less than 10 minutes into its non-conference match against perennial power Fike.
Despite their short-handed position, the Golden Falcons nearly remained unbeaten on the young season.
The Golden Demons punched in three second-half goals in a 4-2 win.
"The boys fought really hard," CBA head coach Cory Worrell said.
The game's complexion changed in the ninth minute when Golden Falcons keeper Skyler Landers received a red-card disqualification. The senior net-minder came off his line and attempted to clear the ball with a header.
Landers (two saves) inadvertently ran straight through the Fike defender, which resulted in the booking.
Fike converted a free kick one minute later.
Zach Naughton leveled the match in the 25th minute on a brilliant 40-yard shot that bounced over the Golden Demons' keeper and into the net.
The Golden Demons built a 3-1 advantage before Naughton pulled back one goal in the 60th -- a left-footed shot from 20 yards out that settled into the corner of the net.
Fike iced the game with a late goal.
"Crazy night," Worrell said.
Dillon Borel supplied an assist for the Golden Falcons.
Ty Smith stopped eight shots during his 70-minute outing between the pipes.
Aycock (3-1-1 overall) returns to action Saturday against Corinth-Holders in the Coaches Kickoff Classic at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary. Kickoff is 1 pm.
