SEVEN SPRINGS -- Southern Wayne started hot.

Then cooled off.

And eventually settled for a 4-2 win against Spring Creek on Thursday afternoon.

The Saints scored three goals in the first 15 minutes.

The Gators came back with two late goals before the end of the second half and forced SW to scramble on defense the remainder of the game.

"I think we dominated the first half, but the second half we kind of slacked off," Southern Wayne head coach Mario Aguilar said. "We need to work on our communication. Aall in all we have a good team so far."

The game started well for Southern Wayne as Wilmer Banegas scored off a penalty kick in the third minute. In the fifth minute, Gavin Simmons weaved his through the box and fired a shot pass the Gators' keeper.

In the 15th minute, Axel Gomez passed the ball to Wildrens Doliscar who bounced the ball off his chest before kicking it in.

Southern Wayne was up 3-0 at halftime.

The Saints increased their lead to 4-0 in the 44th minute when inside the box Doliscar knocked down a pass from Banegas.

Spring Creek grabbed control of possession in the second half as both teams appeared to wear down.

In the 68th minute, Kevin Avila scored off a free kick. Six minutes later, Jose Guadalupe Reynaga Rivas made the score 4-2 when he converted a penalty kick.

"It seems like we're always coming out slow, but we find our groove 30 or 40 minutes into the game and to win games that's not going to work," Spring Creek head coach Jeremy Houser said.

Southern Wayne (2-2-0 overall) plays host to East Duplin on Tuesday, while Spring Creek (0-3-0 overall) travels to Hobbton tonight.
