Goldsboro's women's tennis team bested Spring Creek Thursday by a 7-2 margin.

Spring Creek won one singles and one doubles match, with Goldsboro sweeping the rest of the competition.

In the singles sets, Graces Boros def. Amanda Haggerty, Rachel Johnson def. Ivey Rouse, Haley Jones def. Vanessa Southerland, Crystal Golden def. Daeja Hutcherson, Jordan Lane def. Anna Prezbindowski and Caitlyn Zawadzki def. Savanna Willis.

In doubles competition, Amanda Haggerty and Ivey Rouse def. Grace Boros and Rachel Johnson, Haley Jones and Anna Prezbindowski def. Vanessa Southerland and Jordan Lane and Crystal Golden and Caitlyn Zawadzki def. Savanna Willis and Daeja Hutcherson.

Christ Covenant 0

Wayne County Day School's men's Chargers continued their run of domination on the pitch as they scored nine unanswered goals against Christ Covenant Friday.

Luis Lopez led the way with four shots finding the back of the net. Nehemiya Shaw sent two shots home, while Marquise Newell, David Gurley and Christian Garloch each had one goal.

Lakewood 1,

Princeton 0

The Lakewood Leopards slipped a goal past the Princeton men Thursday to take home the win.

Freshman Rafael Pena knocked the winning point into the back of the net. He was assisted by Senior Logan Thomas.

Volleyball

South Central 3,

C.B. Aycock 1

The Lady Falcons swooped the win away from C.B. Aycock Thursday in four sets.

South Central bested the Golden Falcons 25-19, 26-24 and 25-22, losing only one set 18-25.

Freshman Ali Ruffin led the South Central ladies with 10 kills, trailed closely by junior Courtney Powers, who had 9 kills.

C.B. Aycock Senior Arlanda Faulkner led her team with 20 kills.

JV

Football

Nash Central 16,

Goldsboro 0

Sophmore Dishan Rhodes rushed eight times for 45 yards, but GHS fell to Nash Central, 16-0, on Thursday.

GHS also received production from Deonta Moore and Noah Wilder, who ran for 29 and 24 yards, respectively. Defensively, the Cougars were led by freshman Andreas Stokes, who recorded six solo tackles.

Rosewood 20,

South Lenoir 12

For the first time in program history, the Rosewood junior varsity football program is 4-0.

Quarterback Will Harris spurred the outfit's lastest conquest by going six of 11 through the air for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns versus South Lenoir on Thursday.

RHS also received contributions from Davean Thompson, who scored on a reverse and later on an 8-yard pass from Harris.

Defensively, the Eagles were led by Kieth Jones and Christian Decatur, who filed 10 and eight tackles, respectively.

Rosewood will put its perfect record on the line next week versus Midway.
