Charles B. Aycock moved to 7-0 on the season with a 1-nil victory over ECC 3-A foe J.H. Rose on Thursday.

Eastern Wayne 0

New Bern scored the deciding goal just three minutes into its match with Eastern Wayne on Thursday, then held on to preserve victory.

Wayne Christian 2,

Pope John Paul 0

Jaxon Anderson registered a pair of one-timers for Wayne Christian, who turned back Pope John Paul on Thursday.

Assisting were Jeremy Bentley and JJ Porter. The pair was complemented defensively by Corbett Schaefer, Micaiah Singletary, Dylan Schreffler and Jadin Worling.

Hobbton 4,

Rosewood 1

A second-half burst decided a Carolina 1-a clash between Hobbton and Rosewood on Thursday.

Logan Price scored the lone goal for the Eagles, and was assisted by Logan Mitchell.

Rosewood travels to face Lakewood on Monday.

South Lenoir 2,

North Duplin 2

CALYPSO -- Wilber Velazquez scored two goals and helped North Duplin earn a draw on Thursday with South Lenoir.

Keeper Raul Romero had 12 saves for North Duplin.

CBA Hosts Meet

PIKEVILLE -- Paced by Deshawn Owens (18:49), who now has two wins in his past two meets, Charles B. Aycock bested ECC foe South Central by a single point on Thursday.

Davis Carroll and Chance also ran personal-best times of 20:00and 20:28, respectively.

Spring Creek 6,

James Kenan 0

The Lady Gators of Springs Creek blanked East Central 2-A foe James Kenan on Tuesday by a 6-0 margin.

Amanda Haggerty (6-0, 6-1) again led SC, and was complemented by Ivey Rouse (6-1, 6-0), Vanessa Southerland (6-0, 6-0), Daeja Hutcherson (5-7, 6-6 | 12-10), Jordan Lane (6-3, 6-0), Savanna Willis (6-3, 6-3) and Natalie Slye, who also won the opening set of her singles match.

Golf

Wayne Christian cruises

WILSON -- Wayne Christian fired a team total of 136 and won a three-team match Thursday versus Kerr Vance (151) and Community Christian (170).

Karsyn Roberts secured medalist honors with a nine-hole round of 40. GraceBuddin (48), Bri Verme (48) and Annalise Fitzmorris (57) rounded out WC's victory.

Lakewood 3,

Rosewood 0

Kaitlyn Kincaid had 11 assists, seven digs and 2 kills, but it wasn't enough to propel RHS by Lakewood on Thursday.

Braylee Butts also had six digs, five kills and one assist for the Lady Eagles.

Eastern Wayne 0

Eastern Wayne fell in straight sets to ECC for J.H. Rose on Thursday.

Senior Brianna Autman had five kills and two digs for the Lady Warriors. Emily Newsome and Chloe Smith also had five digs each.

WCDS 3, Christ Covenant 0

GREENVILLE -- The Lady Chargers of Wayne Country Day dealt Christ Covenant a 25-5, 25-18, 25-9 straight sets loss on Thursday.

Cate Eagles had 22 assists and four kills, while Grayson Jeffreys had seven kills. Hannah Neal and Katie Strickland combined for 16 service aces.

North Duplin 3, Union 0

Cassy King recorded seven aces to lift North Duplin to a 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Union on Thursday.

Kenzie Taylor provided six kills, while senior Anna Thornton added 14 assists. Abbey Pate and Hope Brock combined for eight digs.

North Duplin is now 6-4 overall and 2-3 in Carolina 1-A matters.

Southern Wayne 0

HOLLYWOOD CROSSROADS -- Perennial power D.H. Conley dispatched Southern Wayne by a 25-10, 25-3, 25-6 margin on Thursday.

Daylan Wiggs had six digs for SW, while Rebecca Coor has six assists.

Allie Lane recorded 16 points, seven aces and two kills in Grantham's 25-7, 25-11, 23-25, 25-8 victory over Brogden.

Norwayne survived a five-set thriller on Thursday, besting Wayne School of Engineering 20-25, 11-25, 25-22, 26-24 and 15-5.
