GIRLS' TENNIS: Warriors squeeze out 5-4 win

Short-handed Eastern Wayne took two of three doubles matches and won its second straight 5-4 decision -- this time against South Central in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday.
The Warriors entered the match without their Nos. 2, 3 and 6 singles starters due to injuries.
Elizabeth Sutton, Bella Bowen and Samantha Roux each claimed a straight-set victory in singles. Sutton-Emily Uzzell and Roux-Emily Stratton secured the outcome with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.
Sutton-Uzzell pulled out a 9-8 win after trailing 5-2.
Eastern Wayne (5-3 overall, 5-1 ECC) continues play Tuesday at New Bern.
