CALYPSO -- Rylee Pate tossed a no-hitter during North Duplin's 10-0, mercy-rule triumph over Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek in the regular-season finale for both teams Friday evening.
The Rebels (16-2 overall, 11-1 CC) clinched a share of the league championship -- the first in program history since 1989, according to N.C. High School Athletic Association records.
Pate retired nine SC hitters on strikeouts and also belted a home run. Rayanna Koch provided two hits, including a double. Mikayla Koch batted 1-for-2.
North Duplin posted its 15th shutout of the season.
