Greene Central tops Goldsboro in ECC 2A baseball

Greene Central erupted for 14 second-inning runs and Hunter Moore threw a one-hitter during a 18-1, mercy-rule victory over Goldsboro on Saturday morning.
It was the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference regular-season finale for both teams.
Senior shortstop Jon Stevens had the Cougars' lone hit. Senior catcher Tommy Vick threw three innings of two-hit, five-strikeout relief for the Cougars. Goldsboro head coach Danny Merritt said Stevens batted .340 for the season, while Vick hit a crisp .353.
The Cougars concluded the year 3-18 overall.
Moore finished with five strikeouts on the rubber and recorded a two-hit, three-RBI outing at the plate for the Rams. Teammate Tyler Horner cranked out three hits.
