CALYPSO -- Jordan Lane posted a hat trick (three goals) and Spring Creek polished off its second consecutive Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season championship with a 6-0 victory over North Duplin on Friday evening.
"This season the Gators had the responsibility and the pride to defend their championship and they did it," said second-year SC head coach Carlos Borda, whose team collected 66 goals and allowed 15 in 18 outings this season.
"Since the first game they went to the pitch to leave everything. Every game became a new motivation, every goal was celebrated with pride. It did not matter the number of concussions and injuries they had to face this season."
Madison Sullivan, Madison Harkay and Mirna Santiago each provided a goal during the road shutout. Harkay, Amber Buchan, Ivet Carreno, Cassie Alphin and Bianca Cuevas each supplied an assist.
SC's Kaitlyn Sullivan has been selected to play in the 2016 N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro on July 19 at MacPherson Stadium.
The Gators (15-2-1 overall, 12-1-1 CC) return home Wednesday for an opening-round game in the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.
