GREENVILLE -- Kyle Davis hurled a complete-game five-hitter and Ashton McGee maybe -- just maybe -- woke up from a hitting slump during Charles B. Ayock's 10-2 rout of J.H. Rose on Wednesday evening.
Davis yielded two unearned runs and logged 12 strikeouts in the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference affair contested at Charles Davis Field.
"Last night was the best he's thrown all year," CBA head coach Charles Davis said.
Cameron Kornegay cranked out two doubles and drove in two runs. Bryce Anders contributed a hit and two RBI. Kyle Davis and Chandler Matthews each provided one hit.
McGee belted a grand slam in the sixth inning.
"I'm just hoping that lifted that monkey off his back," coach Davis said.
Weather permitting, the Golden Falcons (19-4 overall, 7-4 ECC) travel to Eastern Wayne today. The Warriors won the previous meeting 8-6 on the strength of two Ryan Warren home runs.
"We'll put our uniform on and we'll see what happens," coach Davis said.
