Rebels' Pate, Santos combine for no-hitter

CALYPSO -- Rylee Pate and Alyssa Santos combined for a no-hitter inside the pitcher's circle during North Duplin's 14-0, non-conference mercy-rule thrashing of Lejeune on Monday afternoon.
The Rebels' pitching staff has not allowed a run this season.
Pate retired nine Devilpups on strikeouts, while Santos logged four Ks in the scorebook. Neither batter walked runner.
Santos paced the North Duplin offense, which scored in three of four innings, with two doubles. Shaily McCarty (two RBI) provided two hits. Haley Brogden tripled in two at-bats.
North Duplin (3-0 overall) entertains South Lenoir today.
