MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive broke the 18- and 36-hole score school records, and claimed the Hilton Head Lakes Women's Golf Invitational team title on Tuesday.

The Trojans eclipsed the 18-hole record by six shots and the 36-hole mark by 23 shots. UMO also shattered the program's 36-hole team score with a 598 -- 23 strokes better than their previous four-player total set during the 2013 Hilton Head Lakes event.

No. 19-ranked Armstrong State finished five strokes behind UMO.

"I'm really proud about the way the team handled themselves today knowing they had a chance to win," Trojans head coach Chip Spiron said. "I knew we had to play our best again today to have a chance. To shoot the lowest 18-hole score in school history is amazing."

Paula Guridi claimed medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 142.

"Paula handled herself like a champion," Spiron said. "She finished strong, playing the last five (holes) under par."

Julie Loennechen (150) shared eighth place in individual action. Anne Barboteau and Julia Kaeding completed UMO's historical outing.

The Trojans return to action March 28 at the Cherokee Valley Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
