North Duplin softball dealt first loss of season

CALYPSO -- South Lenoir pushed across two sixth-inning runs and upended previously-unbeaten North Duplin, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon.
Natalie Ramirez led the Rebels' offense with two hits. Taylor Jones, Haley Brogden, Alyssa Santos and Courtney Brock supplied one hit apiece.
Brogden started inside the circle and permitted two earned runs on seven hits and two walks. She struck out five Blue Devil batters. Rylee Pate surrendered two earned runs on two hits and struck out six, but endured the mound loss.
The Rebels dropped to 3-1 overall this season.
