Wildcats defeat Cougars on softball diamond

Dakota Jones knocked in Goldsboro's lone run during a season-opening, 11-1 mercy-rule loss to Hobbton on Monday evening.
Riley Howell singled in the sixth inning and scored on Jones' extra-base hit.
Marcy Taylor started inside the pitcher's circle and logged six strikeouts.
The Cougars, who started eight freshmen and one sophomore against the Wildcats, continue play today at county rival Southern Wayne.
