CHAPEL HILL--The North Carolina High School Athletic Association state softball championships will be moving to collegiate venues this year, according to an announcement by commissioner Davis Whitfield.
Two classifications of the final series will be played at North Carolina State University's Dail Softball Stadium, and two will be played at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro at the UNCG Softball Stadium. For many years the championships have been held at the Walnut Creek Soccer Complex in Raleigh.
Eastern and Western champions will collide at each location in a best-of-three series. Which schools will play where will be determined after the field has been set.
"These first-class collegiate venues will provide a wonderful competition surface and atmosphere for our state softball championships," said Whitfield.
