WCDS charges past Greenfield in doubles play

WILSON -- Wayne Country Day finished runner-up in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play with a 5-4 victory over Greenfield on Monday afternoon.
The No. 1 doubles of Michael Knutson-Miller Gerrard and No. 2 tandem of Sam Dively-Preston Edwards sealed the outcome for the Chargers. Knutson-Gerrard prevailed 8-1, while Dively-Edwards cruised 8-2.
Knutson, Dively and Edwards each triumphed in singles.
The Chargers (8-3 overall, 4-2 CPIC) conclude regular-season play at home next Tuesday against Lawrence Academy. First serve is 4 p.m. at Wayne Community College.
