Adams denied 4th straight Mideast Regional individual golf championship

CLINTON -- Nick Adams posted a runner-up finish and Rosewood placed second as a team during the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A Mideast Regional contested at Coharie Country Club on Monday afternoon.
Voyager Academy's McKenzie Barringer ended Nick Adams' three-year reign as regional champion with a two-stroke victory -- 74-76 -- over the University of Mount Olive signee.
Voyager Academy defeated Rosewood 350-366 for the team title. Dylan Greene (87), Jeremy Mercer (95) and Dylan Champion (108) rounded out the Eagles' four-player total for the 18-hole round. Teammates Taylor Britt and Alex Brogden also played.
Kyle Stone led Spring Creek with a 90. Nathan Turner contributed a 97, followed by Justin Price (103) and Matt Herring (114). The Gators had a team score of 404.
Joel Harris led Princeton with a 92. Jared Pearce (98), Spencer Woodard (104) and Tanner Woodard (123) completed the Bulldogs' scoring. Jordan Keene and Spencer Woodard also played.
North Duplin's Hunter Brock carded a 95. James Kenan's Cole Pridgen recorded an 85.
Rosewood returns to action next Monday at Whispering Pines Country Club for the season-ending state championship meet.
