WILMINGTON -- New Hanover showed why it is one of the top programs in the state with a 67-6 dismantling of Goldsboro on Friday night in Wilmington.

The Wildcats rolled all night on offense behind senior tailback Montrell Baldwin. The Division I prospect tallied 162 yards and five touchdowns on just 18 carries. New Hanover rushed for 383 yards as a team and eclipsed the 500-yard mark in total offense.

New Hanover opened a 28-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the ballgame before Goldsboro got on the board late in the opening quarter. Julius Murphy found Toric Best for a 22-yard scoring strike that gave the Cougars six points and a little momentum.

The celebration was short-lived, however, as New Hanover stormed back with three more touchdowns before the halftime break and put the game away.

Murphy led the Goldsboro offense with 119 yards on 13 completions. The senior quarterback tossed one touchdown and no interceptions. Shawn Ham paced the Cougars' ground game with 26 yards on nine carries. Rasheed Mallette added 23 yards on eight totes.

Goldsboro (0-1 overall) entertains Eastern Wayne next week.
