Trojans' Woodard among top 10

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Mount Olive College senior Scott Woodard carded an even-par 72 and is tied for eighth overall among 105 individuals after opening-round play of the Kiawah Island Invitational on Monday.
Woodard trails first-round leader Gavin Hay of Carson-Newman by three strokes heading into today's final round at Cougar Point Golf Course. A Princeton High graduate, Woodard emerged one of 12 golfers to shoot par or lower on the 6,875-yard layout.
Trojan teammates David Shields (74) and Mark O'Hara (75) are tied for 24th and 34th, respectively. Joachim Hagevall and Eastern Wayne graduate Kyle Ham each turned in a 79.
MOC shares seventh place with Carson-Newman in the team standings at 300. The Trojans trail conference rival Coker (S.C.) College by two strokes.
