PIKEVILLE -- With forward Chase Thompson sidelined with an injury, Charles B. Aycock isn't focused on who isn't available.

The Golden Falcons continue to have players step up and provide goals, and that trend continued in a 5-0 victory over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe North Lenoir on Wednesday night.

Juan Pina scored three times and Michael Fearney and Trey Millard each had a goal. Pina scored just four minutes in after receiving a through-ball from Tyler Lynch.

Fearney's tailing free kick from the right of the 18-yard box curled into the back of the net in the 33rd minute giving Aycock a 2-0 lead.

"It was good to finish early because that's been our downfall this year," said Golden Falcons assistant coach Scott Summers. "We put it in the back of the net and got some confidence."

Justin Shimer had an opportunity to score for the Hawks in the 26th minute after the ball got past Aycock keeper Brandon Davis. Davis charged out of the goal toward the ball and Shimer had a chance to score, but the ball was cleared away by the Golden Falcons' defense.

"I'm very happy with the way we played," said North Lenoir head coach Anthony Kennedy. "Hopefully by the time we see them again we'll be a little bit better. That's really our first test."

Pina collected a loose ball inside the 18-yard box in the 39th minute and extended the lead to 3-0. Pina scored his third goal of the night in the 47th minute off Kyle Powell's assist.

Davis turned away Shimer's shot right in front of the goal in the 49th minute. Davis and Nick Hilker combined to record Aycock's fifth shutout of the season.

Millard's goal in the 69th minute completed the scoring. The Golden Falcons finished with an 11-6 edge in shots on goal.

"It's nice to have some other guys score," said Summers. "If we want to win we have to score."

Aycock (6-2-0, 2-0-0 ECC) visits Rosewood today, while North Lenoir (5-3-1, 1-1-0 ECC) travels to league foe Triton on Monday.
