Bert Leroy Davis, 81, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He was born in Wayne County to the late George Washington and Alice Marie Womble Davis, and was married to the late Mary Alice Christine Davis.
A veteran of the National Guard, he was retired from Cherry Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
Mr. Davis is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Tim Davis of Goldsboro, Tommy and Rhonda Davis of Knoxville, Tenn. and Michael Davis; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Hazel and Woody Woodward of Goldsboro, Eunice Rhodes of Hartsville, S.C., and Carolyn and Russell Walters of Buffaloe Gap, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
