MARY V. WHITFIELD

Mary V. Whitfield, 71, 6035 Dalys Chapel Road, passed away peacefully Friday at Rex Hospital.
She was born Monday, Jan. 13, 1947, in Wayne County to Norman and Willie Mae Saunders Tune.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall in Kinston, N.C. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in Jerusalem Church Cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her children, Lisa Sauls of LaGrange, Ray Whitfield of Vanceboro, Gwendolyn Baker of Pikeville and Nakiesha Tune-Harris of Goldsboro; an adopted son, James Ruffin of Rocky Mount; stepdaughter, Theresa Swinson-Callender of Boston, Mass; grandchildren, Eric Whitfield of LaGrange, Brian Baker of Princeton, Cedric Whitfield of Charlotte, J'Lesa Sauls of LaGrange, Demetrius Wooten of Greenville, Christian Sauls of Kinston and Cedrik Sauls of California; her sisters, Ophelia Garner of Goldsboro, Blanche Tune of Seven Springs and Melody Tune and Eva Ray Tune of LaGrange; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Haskins Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where it will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
Arrangements are by Haskins Funeral Home.
