THELMA M. BARNES

Thelma McClary Barnes, 88, Pikeville, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Willow Creek.

Thelma was born in Wake County Nov. 11, 1929, to the late Jesse N. McClary and Effie Jones McClary. She was married to the late Charles "Rab" Barnes.

Thelma was a registered nurse, and took great pride in caring and providing for her family.

She was a generous and gracious woman.

Thelma will be remembered for the love and laughter that she shared during her well-lived life.

She loved the Lord, her church, First Baptist Church in Goldsboro, and her family.

A service to celebrate Thelma's life will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. by the graveside at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, with the Rev. Scott Trailkill officiating.

The family will greet friends Sunday following the service at the cemetery.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Robert N. Barnes and Wendy of Morehead City, Jeffrey Lynn Barnes and wife Amy of Pikeville and Andy Barnes of the home; daughter, Bonnie James and husband Jesse of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Charles Nathan James, Nolan Robert James, and Jennifer Lynn Barnes; and a great-granddaughter, Haylie Grace James.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia M. Parrish and Esther Jo May.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Willow Creek for the love and care it provided Thelma during her declining health.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
