Jack Morris Kornegay Jr., 71, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home.

Morris was born in Wayne County Dec. 27, 1946, to the late Jack Morris Kornegay Sr. and Ruth Ray Frederick Kornegay.

He enjoyed the opportunities given to him by helping to impact the lives of so many students while serving with Wayne County Public Schools.

Morris retired as principal of Eastern Wayne High School, a place he loved and served for 11 years.

In later years, he was a lover of nature, and enjoyed working in his yard.

Morris also enjoyed boating on the Neuse River, fishing at Emerald Isle, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

A service to celebrate Morris' life will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Bill Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Morris is survived by his daughter, Amanda Black and husband, Keith, of Garner; son, Jay Kornegay III and wife, Liz, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jack Kornegay IV, Bobby Kornegay, Linna Kornegay, Sam Black and William Black; and his longtime companion, Brenda Brown of Nashville.

He is also survived by his special k-9 friend, Karl.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Eastern Wayne High School, 1135 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
